As NerdWallet continues to become the brand of choice for trusted financial guidance, our creative team explored opportunities for brand activations across social and digital touchpoints.

We decided a great way to keep the brand top of mind was to use our Nerdy expertise to disprove some of the financial misinformation plaguing social feeds across the internet. And who better to tune our bad financial advice than 6-time grammy award-winning rapper T-Pain?

 
 
 

We developed a creative brief for T-Pain, outlining the financial misinformation and how folks could use NerdWallet's resources to gain clarity on topics like mortgages, credit cards, and investing.

After that, Mr. Pain worked his magic and produced four video responses to four pieces of misinformation. Once we received his original clips, we added some branded NerdWallet visuals and posted the videos to NerdWallet and T-Pain's social channels.

In addition to the strategic work behind the activation, I created the animation for the “splash” screen you see in the videos and collaborated with the design team to build and animate a set of sticker GIFs (which you can find on Giphy) we would add to each video.

Campaign-specific vertical video production

 

Over the past two years, Morgan Eidson and I have written, directed, and produced vertical video content to support NerdWallet in its quest to become consumers’ most trusted brand for financial decision-making.

In our "Compare Your Way There" campaign, Morgan and I directed hired talent to deliver pre-written scripts true to NerdWallet’s brand. Recently, in our "Smartest Decisions" campaign, we've collaborated closely with independent creators to create authentic, channel-first videos that explain the benefit of using NerdWallet across product verticals (such as travel credit cards and mortgages) and passion points (like music and gaming).
